Hello! I’m Johnny and I'm a creative director.
I got into fitness because I love my job, which unfortunately keeps me in front of a desk over extended hours.
I love designing logos, posters, and concepts for passionate people. So, I knew if I wanted to do this longer, I had to life a healthy lifestyle to compensate for the time spent sitting in front of a screen.
2020, when I realized I needed to start living healthier
The main reason I started @jisolates is for it to become my accountability journal. I also am a very data-driven boy, so I like seeing progress.
But the more I got to know the culture, and the blogosphere, the designer in me gravitated towards areas where there could be improvement.
So I ended up making a couple of passion projects like merch, making fun concepts like stickers, and even got to rebrand my coach.
The fitness industry currently has a shortage of good visuals. Take any coach or trainer's rate sheet and switch out their photo for another's, and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
What makes a good visual identity is being anchored in who it represents. That's what makes something iconic and recognizable. It draws from the person and their interests and experiences to make a language that's uniquely its own.
This was our approach when J and I decided to rebrand his Coaching Program. We took a lot of the things that inspire him and translated that into a cohesive visual library. That's why we decided to present it musically, as if it were an album rollout.
